Doug Brotherton
Attended Marshall High School where he was a captain of an undefeated team that was ranked #2 in Class B by the associated press. Received the "Coach's Award" as a junior and the "Gatorade Will to Win Award" as a senior. From 7th grade through high school, accumulated a record of 100 wins to only 10 losses. Also worked numerous local camps and volunteered with the youth basketball program in his hometown. After high school passed on the opportunity to play basketball at a community college to pursue a head start in his coaching career. Brotherton began traveling the state to work numerous camps around Michigan.

Brotherton spent four years as a student-assistant coach with the men's basketball team at Central Michigan University. Some of his jobs have included; helping with recruiting, being present and involved at practices, putting together the "Rowdie Report," working with video, helping put together scouting reports, and doing any miscellaneous jobs that help in the running of a division 1 basketball program.
In 2005, Brotherton landed his first formal position at Shepherd High School as the Freshmen girl's basketball coach. He led that team to a very successful 13-3 season. In his second season at Shepherd, Brotherton took a team that started 1-6, and went 8-4 down the stretch to finish 9-10. Following his first season at Shepherd, Brotherton coached a group of girl's from Sacred Heart Academy in Mount Pleasant. Christian Home Services sponsored the AAU team. Past experiences also include coaching an AYBT team of high school senior boys from Marshall in the summer of 2004.
After the success at the freshmen level, Shepherd High School hired Brotherton to coach the Varsity Girls Basketball team. At the age of 21, he became the youngest varsity basketball coach in the state of Michigan. In his first year at the varsity level, Brotherton led Shepherd to their first district win in 31 years. In year two, Shepherd had their first non-losing season in 6 years. That was followed by another district win, the first time in school history that the girls basketball program had won a playoff game in back-to-back seasons. Year three brought an AYBT National Championship for the Shepherd Girls. They also finished in the top half of the Tri-Valley Central for the first time in school history. In his last year at Shepherd, Brotherton led a young Shepherd team to their best record in 9 years.
In 2010, Brotherton was hired as the first men's basketball coach at Mid Michigan Community College;
With only four weeks to recruit and build a team, Brotherton put together the first MMCC Lakers basketball team since 1970. On November 6th, 2010 the Lakers won their first game at the Palace of Auburn Hills against Delta Community College. Despite a 1-5 start, the Mid Michigan Community College Lakers rebounded to finish their first season at 11-8, while playing one of the toughest JuCo schedules in the state of Michigan.
As the founder/coach of the Central Michigan All Stars Basketball Club, Coach Brotherton has helped 41 student-athletes (in 5 years) accomplish their goal of competing at the collegiate level. The C.M.A.S. Basketball Club has also won 6 tournaments, and been the runner-up in 5 other events. The program began with one team of 12 players. In 2010, the program featured 6 teams and over 60 student-athletes.
